Industrial cooling and ventilation in Riyadh

Riyadh is a manufacturing city as much as an administrative one. The First and Second Industrial Cities on the Al Kharj road hold food and beverage plants, plastics and packaging works, cable and wire drawing, pharmaceutical units and a very large concentration of metal fabrication, while the Third Industrial City and Sudair further north take the heavier and newer projects. Al Sulay is the older workshop belt near Exit 18, still dense with steel yards and vehicle trades. Because Riyadh air is genuinely dry all summer, ducted evaporative cooling is not a fallback here; it is the primary system, delivering conditions no fan alone can reach at a fraction of the running cost of chilled air across a 5,000 sq m shed.

Riyadh climate — the honest version

Riyadh is deep desert, with 45–48 °C afternoons and humidity often under 15 percent through the summer, which makes it one of the best evaporative cooling markets anywhere and supports drops in the region of 13 to 16 °C.

Sea freight arrives at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam in 8 to 12 days from Nhava Sheva or Mundra, then moves 400 km by road to Riyadh, which most forwarders complete within two days of release.

Worth knowing locally

  • Saudi Arabia runs on 60 Hz, unlike the rest of the Gulf. Confirm 400 V three phase 60 Hz at order so motors are selected accordingly, because a 50 Hz motor on 60 Hz overspeeds and draws more current.
  • Imports need a SABER product certificate and a shipment certificate of conformity issued through a SASO recognised body before customs release, so the technical file should be started when the order is placed.
  • Demand rises sharply from March as plants prepare for summer. With 10 to 20 working days production and a 400 km inland leg, February and March orders are the ones that get installed in time.

Supplying Riyadh — common questions

Cannot find what you need? Call +91 80871 10156 or WhatsApp us — an engineer, not a call centre, picks up.

Ask on WhatsApp
What air volume of duct cooler does a Riyadh production bay need?

Size it on air changes rather than floor area. A workshop of about 1,000 sq m with a 7 metre roof holds 7,000 cubic metres, and 25 to 30 changes an hour in Riyadh heat calls for roughly 200,000 CMH, so seven to ten units of 18,000 to 30,000 CMH. Ayzair works this out from your building drawing.

Is SABER or SASO registration required for this equipment in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. Electrical and mechanical equipment must be registered on the SABER platform, with a product certificate obtained from a SASO approved conformity assessment body and a shipment certificate raised per consignment. Ayzair provides the CE, LVD and EMC files, test reports and technical drawings the certifier asks for, and the importer of record files the registration.

Is the water use of evaporative cooling a problem in Riyadh?

It is a fair question in a desert city. A 30,000 CMH duct cooler consumes roughly 30 to 60 litres an hour depending on dryness, which is far less than most operators expect and a fraction of what a comparable chiller costs to run in power. A recirculating tank with a controlled bleed off keeps consumption predictable.
