Dhaka runs on readymade garments. The knitwear and woven units in Gazipur, Savar, Ashulia, Tongi and Narayanganj, together with the older mills and printing works around Tejgaon, employ hundreds of people per floor on machines that each add heat. For a floor to soffit height of three to four metres we normally specify 8 to 12 ft fans on short drops, spaced so the air pattern overlaps between lines. Larger 20 or 24 ft units are better kept for high roofed knitting halls, dye houses, finishing sections and finished goods warehouses.
